Q1.What is Bubble Tea?


Bubble tea is a traditional Taiwanese drink invented in the 1980s in Taiwan. The recipe is to add

tapioca pearls into milk tea; which is made by shaking together a mixture of black tea and coffee

creamer with a shaker. Bubble tea is mostly iced in that time because people liked to drink cold to

cool down during the hot summer. That’s why bubble tea was really popular in that time, and

now bubble tea has become one of the most famous Taiwanese drinks in the world. Over these years,

bubbletea has also well developed in oversea markets including East Asia, Europe, the United States and even

the Middle East.



Q2. What exactly are the pearls made out of?


Main materials:Tapioca starch.

Tapioca is a starch that is extracted from cassava root that is naturally gluten-free and typically

made into flour and edible pearls.



In the beginning, Taiwanese people called it tapioca balls. The original color of tapioca balls is

white and after businessman added black sugar into it to make it black. That’s why almost all

the tapioca pearl we see nowadays are in black color. The black tapioca balls look crystal clear so people

called it black pearl and that’s how the name of tapioca pearl from.



Q3. Does Bubble mean Tapioca Pearl?


A lot of people misunderstand the bubble of bubble tea as tapioca pearl, but actually, it means

the floating bubble on the top of black tea. There will be a layer of bubble on the top of black

tea after black tea is shaken with a shaker and this is the reason people called it bubble tea.
